Tyax Adventures is committed to environmental stewardship and being an active participant in ensuring that the South Chilcotin Wilderness remains healthy and sustainable for recreational use.

By booking a trip with Tyax Adventures a portion of your total is donated to the Chilcotin Grizzly Bear Conservation Fund.
The fund goes directly to the St’át’imc Grizzly Bear Research project, which has been involved in Grizzly bear research and recovery efforts since 1999. More specifically, it supports the collection of scientific data, which aids in the creation of land base management planning in our local area.
The Grizzly Bears in the upper Bridge River Valley (Tyax Adventures’ area of operation) are part of the Greater South Chilcotin Population Unit, a population that is currently listed as threatened. By increasing Grizzly Bear awareness within the region, we can be part of maintaining a healthy Grizzly Bear population. Grizzly Bears, being an “umbrella species” are a strong indicator of a healthy eco-system and we support and value keeping the South Chilcotin Wilderness healthy and sustainable for recreational use. Furthermore, we respect the Traditional Territory that we operate in, and the important cultural value of Grizzly Bears to local First Nations communities.
Support those who help make your experience possible. Trail Fairies don’t exist: just a handful of hard working individuals and they need your help.
We are proud to introduce the Bridge River Valley Trail Supporter Program. Renewed annually, a mandatory $10 donation to trial maintenance gets you a Supporter Sticker, letting you display to the world your support for the world-class network of wilderness trails found in this valley.
We are implementing this at Tyax Adventures as a fee included on your invoice. This is the best way we can all contribute to supporting this effort.
Along with this, trail Supporter stickers can be purchased in Gold Bridge at either the BVRCA Office or the Tourist Information Booth at the Haylmore site and at Tyax Adventures’ Activity Desk. Also, with a donation of $10 or more on TrailForks a sticker will be held for you at the BRVCA office. Please contact Tyax Adventures for details or questions about how you can help share support.
We are fortunate to have public access to these wild places, however the environments are fragile. Please respect them and ride responsibly so that others can enjoy them in future.
Respect is an engaging and inspiring call to action video meant to inspire mountain bikers to join the movement toward responsible and sustainable riding practices that will keep backcountry mountain biking alive, growing and sustainable in British Columbia.
Our goal in producing this video was to take the lead as a responsible backcountry tour operator and help educate riders about the importance of sustainable backcountry mountain biking practices, and to share a picture of what these sustainable practices include. Environmental, cultural, and behavioural aspects of sustainable mountain biking are addressed in this video.
This video is intended to be shared globally across all platforms, and amongst the entire mountain bike community. Please contact Tyax Adventures for details or questions about how you can help share this critical call to action piece.
The St’át’imc are the original inhabitants of the territory which extends north to Churn Creek and to South French Bar; northwest to the headwaters of Bridge River; north and east toward Hat Creek Valley; east to the Big Slide; south to the island on Harrison Lake and west of the Fraser River to the headwaters of Lillooet River, Ryan River and Black Tusk.
The St’át’imc way of life is inseparably connected to the land. St’át’imc people use different locations throughout their territory of rivers, mountains and lakes, planning their trips with the best times to hunt and fish, harvest food and gather medicines. The lessons of living on the land are a large part of the inheritance passed on from St’át’imc elders to children.
