Floatplane information for Tyax Adventures charters

Floatplane Charter Flight Information

If you have a floatplane charter booked, please familiarize yourself with the following information to ensure you are properly prepared for your flight. See our Charter Flight Rates here.

Check-In

All passengers must arrive and sign in at our base of operations (the Tyax Adventure Activity Cabin located outside the front of Tyax Lodge) 45 minutes prior to their scheduled flight time, and be down on the dock ready to depart 15 minutes prior to their scheduled flight time. Bikers

Our floatplane has the capacity for up to 4 passengers with bikes, up to 1,100 lbs departing from Tyaughton Lake.

On the dock, ready to depart, 15 minutes prior to scheduled flight time means:

  • Remove the front wheel only

    • Please come with the knowledge and tools to remove your wheel

  • Bear spray must be separate from the rest of your gear

  • E-Bikes, fat bikes, or bikes with double crown forks cannot be transported in the plane.

  • Advise us at time of booking if there will be any bikes with a knock block headset (TREK)

Hikers

Our floatplane has the capacity for up to 5 passengers (no bikes), up to 1,100 lbs departing from Tyaughton Lake.

On the dock, ready to depart, 15 minutes prior to scheduled flight time means:

  • Bear spray must be separate from the rest of your gear

Restrictions

The plane comfortably seats the following (up to a weight limit of 1,100 lbs):

  • 5 passengers (no bikes) - Hiking Only

  • 4 passengers with bikes, backpacks and a small amount of camping gear

The floatplane can carry up to 1,100 lbs (not including the pilot) of gear and passengers on short-haul flights from Tyaughton Lake.

The floatplane can pick up guests or gear from Spruce Lake or Lorna Lake with a up to 700 lbs (including all gear, passengers, bikes, etc.). Picking up guests or gear from Warner Lake is not possible.

These weight restrictions are strict, and if you have too much weight/volume, we will have to leave items behind or book another flight.

Please note that we cannot land at Warner Lake after 1:00 pm daily, and we cannot land at Spruce Lake on Wednesday’s.

Self-Guided Groups

If your group is traveling self-guided and flying with Tyax Adventures, please be respectful that Tyax Adventures is supplying you and your group with air transport services only. You are not relying upon any advice, information or assistance from Tyax Adventures with respect to backcountry travel or safety.

Alternate Landings

All flights are weather dependent and at the pilot’s discretion, always based first and foremost on the safety of our guests and staff. Please see our full Booking & Cancellation Policy here.

  • If wind or weather make landing impractical at Warner Lake - Lorna Lake or Spruce Lake can be used as an alternate option (weather dependent).

  • If wind or weather make landing impractical at Lorna Lake - Spruce Lake can be used as an alternate option (weather dependent).

Bear Spray

We recommend that all group members carry bear spray and know how to use it. Please advise the pilot if you are traveling with bear spray so they can stow it in the float compartment - it is not to be carried inside the plane.
