We are hiring the following position for the upcoming 2017 season:

Horse Operations Manager

Must love horses, ranch life and outdoor adventure!

Our Horse Operations Manager oversees all aspects of our horse operation. As Horse Operations Manager, you’re responsible for managing our Pearson Ranch, maintaining the herd’s health and safety, and directing a safe, enjoyable guest experience.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least five years’ experience working with horses and managing a small dude ranch operation
  • A valid first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License, Firearms Certificate, Chain Saw Operation Certificate
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Farrier skills, with certification an asset

Your skill set includes:

  • Great people management, teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization and personal accountability
  • A knack for fixing stuff, and a desire to live and work on a small ranch away from the big city lights
  • Previous tourism experience and a passion for sharing epic outdoor experiences

Backcountry Wrangler Guides

As a Back Country Wrangler Guide you are responsible for safely guiding our horse pack trains and guests through the mountains, and ensuring that each trip is an awesome experience.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least three years’ experience working with horses and guiding pack trains in the wilderness
  • A valid wilderness first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License (an asset), Firearms Certificate, Chain Saw Operation Certificate
  • Formal horse packing and guiding training

Your skill set includes:

  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization and personal accountability
  • Excellent way-finding skills and wildlife knowledge
  • Physical strength and stamina for tacking and loading horses, and spending long hours in the saddle
  • A high comfort level in a wilderness setting
  • A desire to share epic outdoor guest experiences

Resort Wrangler Guides

As a Resort Wrangler Guide you are responsible for safely guiding guests on our resort-based trail rides, and ensuring each trip is a top-notch experience.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least one year’s experience working with horses and guiding trail rides
  • A valid basic first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License (an asset)

Your skill set includes:

  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization and personally accountability
  • A desire to share epic outdoor guest experiences day after day
  • Physical capacity to tack horses daily, feed the ponies and clean up the… well, you know…

Guest Experience Manager

As our Guest Experience Manager you are responsible for ensuring that every guest experience delivers what was promised, and more. The Guest Experience Manager oversees the guest experience operation, including the guest experience desk and staff, and scheduling the appropriate resources for each trip.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least two years’ experience in a people management role, preferably in an adventure tourism or hospitality operation
  • A valid basic first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License (an asset)
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, and the ability to master other computer programs as required

Your skill set includes:

  • Excellent people management skills
  • Superior teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization, a keen eye for detail, and a rock-solid sense of personally accountability
  • A complete understanding of what we do, and what it takes to deliver epic outdoor experiences every single day
  • A passion for interacting with guests and ensuring that every guest experience exceeds expectations

Guest Experience Coordinators

Our Guest Experience Coordinators are responsible for delivering consistently exceptional guest service through excellent frontline interactions, and by liaising with guides and pilots to ensure no detail is missed.

Your qualifications are:

  • Previous experience in a frontline sales or reservations role, preferably in an adventure tourism or hospitality organization
  • A valid basic first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License

Your skill set includes:

  • Excellent guest servicing skills
  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization, a keen eye for detail, and demonstrated personally accountability
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure
  • A passion for interacting with guests and ensuring that every guest experience exceeds expectations

Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, and the ability to master other computer programs as required

Camp Hosts

As a Camp Host you are responsible to be a gracious and welcoming host, and delivering consistently exceptional guest service and meals in our backcountry camps.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least two years’ experience cooking in a backcountry camp or other facility with rudimentary kitchen facilities
  • Food Safe – Level 1

Your skill set includes:

  • Excellent guest servicing skills
  • An ability to cook consistent, delicious, satisfying meals and to efficiently manage food inventory
  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization and personal accountability
  • A knack for solving problems with innovative solutions based on limited resources
  • A desire to spend extended periods of time in the backcountry
  • The physical ability to travel through the backcountry to camps, and a comfort level for travelling in the wilderness
  • A passion for interacting with guests and ensuring that every guest experience exceeds expectations

Mountain Bike Guides

As a Mountain Bike Guide you are responsible for delivering consistently exceptional, safe backcountry mountain bike adventures to our guests.

Your qualifications are:

  • At least two years’ experience guiding mountain bike tours in a remote wilderness setting
  • A valid wilderness first aid certificate, Class 4 BC Driver’s License, Chain Saw Operation Certificate
  • Intermediate bike repair skills
  • Expert mountain bike rider
  • Mountain bike level 1 coach (an asset)

Your skill set includes:

  • Great teamwork and communication skills
  • Organization and personal accountability
  • A knack for solving problems with innovative solutions based on limited resources
  • Excellent way-finding skills and wildlife knowledge
  • A desire to spend extended periods of time in the backcountry, and a high level of comfort in the wilderness
  • The physical ability to ride for extended periods of time (both hours in the saddle and days on the bike) in challenging mountain terrain
  • A passion for interacting with guests and ensuring that every guest experience exceeds expectations
Our seasonal positions are based out of the Tyax Wilderness Resort and Spa, and candidates will need to reside in the area. Tyax Adventures offers staff accommodation, and may also assist in finding alternate suitable accommodation as necessary.
